Invitation to be a Host Parent for a Short Term visit
A group of our local students returned from an exciting trip to China on 19 April 2015. They were buddied by a student from the school (Pan Yu ZhiXin Middle School, Guangzhou) and also stayed with this family – their host family. This was a wonderful experience for our students and gave them a real taste of experiencing another culture with a Chinese family. During Term 3 we will have a visit again from Meijo University High School and Namiki High School. Meijo will be bringing 36 students to visit us from Tuesday 21 July to Tuesday 4 August and Namiki will be bringing 20 students who will be visiting us from Wednesday 19 August to Thursday 27 August. China Trip 2015 – April School Holidays Another Exciting Overseas Trip For Horowhenua College Students! Hosted By PanYu ZhiXin Middle School, Guangzhou – Sister School Exchange Close estimate cost, $2,500 (includes flights, insurance, accommodation, entry fees) Students will be accommodated in the school’s boarding department during the week and billeted with families arranged by the school during the weekend. The Chinese students hosting our students will be making a return visit to Horowhenua College in February 2016. Each student will have a buddy during their stay. Vietnam Trip April 2014
It is not too late to register for the Vietnam trip, April 2014. Pick up a registration form from the Student Centre. This will be ‘a trip of a life-time’. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity. Open to students from Year 9 to Year 13.
India Visit to Horowhenua College
During Term Two from 10 to 20 May, 2013, Horowhenua College students enjoyed a visit from Mussoorie International School, India. The Principal, Mrs Priya Peter accompanied the group, bringing with her 13 of her students. This school caters for girls from the age of 5 to 17/18 year olds. Also accompanying the group was Mr Taran who organised the visit along with his wife and daughter. During the visit, the Indian students shared their country and school with our students through a PowerPoint presentation, song and dance. This was both interesting and colourful. The costumes were amazing and the dances were beautiful. Everyone enjoyed it so much. For our own students, spending time with students from another and very different country is invaluable. Buddies were arranged for each of the Indian girls and through classroom experiences, friendships were made. The programme for their visit was prepared by our International Department. …
Horowhenua College students to Vietnam, April 2014
In April 2014, we will be taking a group of Horowhenua College students to visit our Sister School, Nguyen Tat Thanh High School in Hanoi. A group of 20 students and two teachers have just recently visited us. Registration forms for this trip are available from Mrs Keeling, International Department (T12). The first parent and student meeting for this trip will be held on Thursday 9 May at 7.00pm. The first letter with information about the trip will be sent out to students registered on Monday 8 April.
