Over recent years a review of our qualification system has been undertaken. Numerous changes have already been identified and communicated to schools. To ensure schools fully understand what is required and are ready to bring in these changes, a number of Teacher Only Days have been provided by the Ministry of Education for all secondary schools in NZ. Our next Teacher Only Day is on Wednesday 27th August.

Horowhenua College will not be open for instruction on Wednesday 20th August as there is a strike day for all secondary teachers in New Zealand this day. Our Non-union teachers will remain at college to supervise students who, for whatever reason, are not able to be at home for the day. These students should be at school at the normal time and in uniform and must bring their own lunch. Please contact the school office (0800 467694) if your child will be at school on this day. We realise this is frustrating for everyone involved so we appreciate your support in this matter.

From 11.00 am to 7.00 pm for Y11-13 students only. Interviews for Y9 & 10 students will be held in term 4. Due to the Parent-Whānau Conferences there will be no classes on Thursday 14th August. Year 9 and 10 students will be given work to do at home on this day. Senior students are encouraged to come to the conferences with their parents or caregivers. To book your interviews, go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz in your browser, and enter the event code 7c7kj. Then follow these three simple steps: Enter your email address, your name and your phone number. Then choose your Preferred Meeting Type: either In person, or Phone. You may choose only one meeting type. If you need to book for more than one student, change the “Book for 1 student” setting, and enter the number of students you wish to book for. Then enter the name(s) of the…
