Student Leaders – Prefects

With our aim of growing successful young adults, we empower students to show initiative, foster their passions, and mentor them through their leadership. Each prefect is assigned a portfolio, a mentor teacher, and often a buddy to work with. The results are astounding. Student-run house competitions, social events, and service events. Our goal is to grow young men and women with maturity, organisation, and confidence.

Our current prefect team

To become a prefect, there is an exhaustive selection process, including submitting CVs, speeches to the whole school, student voting, a training day, and then Principal’s interviews. We are proud to present our current student prefect team.

“O le ala i le pule o le tautua – the pathway to leadership is service.”

“I view the role of prefect not as a position of status, but as an opportunity to give back to the school community that has supported me. My recent experience with the Showquest performance, ‘Our Walk, Our Journey, Our Movement,’ taught me that our school shines brightest when we work together across our diverse backgrounds. I hope to bring that same spirit of unity to the leadership team.”

“I am passionate about supporting others and being a positive role model. I believe we can create a school environment where students feel respected, included, and encouraged to succeed. Being a prefect allows me to give back to the school community that has supported me, while also helping me develop leadership and communications skills for my future.”

“A prefect leader is someone who cares not only for their achievements and success, but also for the achievements and successes of those around them. I strive to show support, encouragement and empathy to those beside me in the classroom, on stage or on the sports field as we represent our Kura.”

“I view the position of International Prefect not just as a title, but as an opportunity to serve our community. My goal is to serve as a role model who demonstrates that leadership is defined by hard work, integrity, and a positive attitude.”

“I feel honoured to attend this great school and am privileged to serve as a prefect in 2026. I come from a proud Nua family, starting with my great-grandmother attending in 1942, shortly after the school opened. I see great benefit in giving things a go, whether that be academic, cultural or in sports. This sees me volunteering, participating and learning skills in a wide number of roles in the school and local community.”
